In Reality:
Since the WW II ended back in ’45, no nuclear attack explosions have occurred in the southern United States.
How it Looks in Movie Reality:
Two nuclear attacks on Texas, in July, 2005, made the U.S. launch a strike, which started the WW III. This caused a fuel shortage around the globe, and allowed the state to increase the monitoring of U.S. citizens’ personal habits.
If Movie Reality Was Real:
The lines at the gas stations would be much higher than nowadays.
